Situation Overview
Following Operation Jade Knife, Bureau Toth requested Team Bravo’s assistance aboard ORIZON-4, a Bureau Toth watchtower in Dawn orbit, after BLACK LOTUS detected anomalous activity associated with PALE/07. Sergeant Major Rabbit was designated Team Leader. Buzzkill, Q, Karrion Voss and Anya were assigned, while Mary D’Vorce remained on administrative leave, Gypsy remained hospitalised at SHIFA after revival and SILK treatment, and PalOFemi remained on administrative leave pending internal review. At ORIZON-4, Director Amara Venn and ALEPH counterpart NYSA briefed Team Bravo that BLACK LOTUS was an ALEPH-built O-12 safety programme designed to monitor dangerous AI evolution and anomalous digital threats. In Sector D, Vault 3, Buzzkill and Anya discovered an authorised maintenance session at physical Terminal 3B using valid Bureau Toth Systems Auditor credentials belonging to Miriam Solano. Concurrently, Rabbit, Karrion and Q entered the offline Human Room and recovered a PALE/07 research chain involving biological identity reconstruction, Hassassin authentication architecture, SHIFA compatibility research, Combined Army biological forensics and ALEPH Transferred Identity Code validation architecture with target identity class ASPECT. While Buzzkill attempted to secure BLACK LOTUS, PALE/07 seized the node and ORIZON-4 declared NYSA a hostile AI and Team Bravo a compromised support element. A purge sequence followed, using chlorine gas, automated gatling guns, TAGs and ALEPH neo-human assets. Karrion Voss was killed during the pursuit. In the main control room, Team Bravo discovered that PALE had taken control of NYSA, extracted vital information and initiated a sequence to de-orbit ORIZON-4 into Dawn. Team Bravo forced PALE out of NYSA and Anya barely stabilised the watchtower and restored it toward safe orbit. Miriam Solano was later found and confirmed as a human collaborator manipulated through BLACK MIRROR, a PALE contact channel. BLACK LOTUS had functioned as intended by detecting the anomalous intrusion and alerting Bureau Toth. With NYSA’s help, Team Bravo recovered a PALE/07 forecast identifying Concilium, a closed summit involving eight participating authorities, eight identity packages in preparation and the surviving header KNIVES. Rabbit recognised this as the Ariadnan Council of KNIVES. Bureau Noir immediately issued the directive: Pack for Concilium.

Pre-Mission Personnel Disposition
Mary D’Vorce remained on administrative leave. Team Leader Gypsy remained on hospitalisation leave following his death during Operation Jade Knife. He had been revived by Haqqislam doctors and transferred to SHIFA for SILK treatment under O-12 direction; his future operational status remained undetermined. PalOFemi remained on administrative leave pending internal review for breach of SOP. Buzzkill, Q, Sergeant Major Rabbit and Karrion Voss were assigned to the mission. Rabbit was designated Team Leader. Anya, who had supported Operation Jade Knife as part of Team Hades, was also assigned.
Mission Setup — Bureau Toth Request
Following Operation Jade Knife, Bureau Noir received a request from Bureau Toth for Team Bravo to assist with an investigation aboard ORIZON-4 in Dawn orbit. Bureau Toth specifically requested the team because they had encountered PALE/07 and recovered the BLACK LOTUS callsign.
Mission Assignment — Director Amara Venn
Team Bravo was briefed and immediately sent to ORIZON-4. For the duration of Operation Watchglass, the team was temporarily assigned to Bureau Toth Director Amara Venn.
Scene 1 — Arrival at ORIZON-4
Team Bravo arrived aboard ORIZON-4 and met Director Amara Venn and ALEPH counterpart NYSA. The team received a formal briefing on Bureau Toth, its function within O-12 and its oversight responsibilities concerning ALEPH and anomalous digital threats.
Scene 1 — Bureau Toth Intelligence Role
Director Venn explained that Bureau Toth had been closely monitoring events on Dawn and had supplied intelligence to Bureau Noir Secretariat for dissemination to Team Bravo. BLACK LOTUS had been detected in anomalous digital chatter connected to the ongoing PALE investigation.
Scene 1 — BLACK LOTUS Defined
Director Venn clarified that BLACK LOTUS was not a person. BLACK LOTUS was an ALEPH-built safety programme created for O-12 to monitor dangerous AI evolution and other anomalies in the digital realm. The programme had been developed alongside ORIZON-4 as a safeguard intended to detect AI or digital entities that might evolve into threats to the Human Sphere.
Scene 1 — ALEPH Position
NYSA confirmed BLACK LOTUS’s purpose and stated that ALEPH accepted and supported O-12 oversight through Bureau Toth. The programme was therefore not evidence of hostility toward ALEPH but part of the established safety architecture between ALEPH and O-12.
Anya Observation — ORIZON-4 Staffing
Anya observed that ORIZON-4 was comparable in scale to Gates of Dawn yet appeared almost devoid of human personnel. Director Venn confirmed that the watchtower contained only eight human staff but more than two hundred ALEPH neo-humans.
Anya Observation — Physical Restrictions
Anya observed that NYSA and the other neo-humans were subject to physical movement restrictions and were prohibited from entering specific sectors. ORIZON-4 therefore functioned as a black site operated largely by ALEPH assets while also containing deeper black sites inaccessible to those same assets.
Scene 2 — Sector D / Vault 3
Team Bravo was led into Sector D, Vault 3, a restricted Bureau Toth intelligence site containing sensitive material stored and categorised before dissemination to other O-12 bureaux. BLACK LOTUS resided within this monitoring infrastructure.
Scene 2 — Unscheduled BLACK LOTUS Update
Buzzkill and Anya, working with NYSA, discovered that BLACK LOTUS had registered an unscheduled update associated with a hardware service conducted nine months earlier.
Scene 2 — Terminal 3B Access
Investigation of Vault 3 revealed that physical Terminal 3B had been accessed during an authorised maintenance session. The system recorded: MAINTENANCE ACCESS — AUTHORISED. VAULT 3 / PHYSICAL TERMINAL 3B. CREDENTIAL: BUREAU TOTH SYSTEMS AUDITOR. STATUS: VALID. ACCESS WINDOW: 04:12–04:19.
Scene 2 — Miriam Solano Credential
The maintenance session identified the operator as Miriam Solano. Credential status was valid and no security flags were recorded. One storage drawer was slightly newer than surrounding units, but tamper seals were intact, nothing appeared physically forced, no obvious malware residue was found and the system considered the access legitimate.
Scene 2 — The Human Room
Concurrently, Karrion Voss, Rabbit and Q entered the Human Room. NYSA was physically unable to enter by design. The Human Room was an offline, above-top-secret archive containing intelligence deliberately kept outside normal online storage and ALEPH access.
Scene 2 — Function of the Human Room
The Human Room stored and assessed highly sensitive material before Bureau Toth disseminated selected intelligence to relevant O-12 parties. Its existence reflected Bureau Toth’s requirement for human-controlled oversight independent of normal digital systems.
Scene 2 — PALE/07 Research Chain
Inside the Human Room, Team Bravo recovered a captured PALE/07 research chain containing: BIOLOGICAL IDENTITY RECONSTRUCTION; HASSASSIN AUTHENTICATION ARCHITECTURE; SHIFA COMPATIBILITY RESEARCH; COMBINED ARMY BIOLOGICAL FORENSICS.
Scene 2 — ALEPH Identity Target
The research chain continued with ALEPH TRANSFERRED IDENTITY CODE; VALIDATION ARCHITECTURE; TARGET IDENTITY CLASS: ASPECT. Team Bravo concluded that PALE/07 was studying how to make a false identity pass as a legitimate ALEPH Aspect.
Buzzkill Observation — Node Opened
While Buzzkill accessed the Terminal 3B mainframe in an attempt to secure BLACK LOTUS, the monitors went dark and PALE/07 took control. Buzzkill heard PALE thank him for opening the node, leading Buzzkill to fear that his access had inadvertently allowed PALE into one of O-12’s most secure facilities.
Scene 2 — Compromise Alarm
Emergency alarms activated throughout the Human Room and Vault 3. Red emergency indicators declared: NYSA — HOSTILE AI. TEAM BRAVO — COMPROMISED SUPPORT ELEMENT.
Rabbit Observation — Accused
Rabbit recorded that Director Venn reacted with anger and initially accused Team Bravo of bringing the hostile entity into ORIZON-4. The team was forced to consider whether its own actions had enabled the breach.
Scene 3 — Purge Sequence
A new station command sounded over the intercom: HOSTILE HUMANS, BEGIN PURGE SEQUENCE. Green chlorine gas began filling the Human Room and Cold Vault.
Scene 3 — Evacuation
Team Bravo secured Director Venn and evacuated toward the main Vault while attempting to survive the gas attack and maintain access to the station.
Scene 3 — Vault 3 Kill Box
At the main Vault, Team Bravo observed NYSA apparently engaging purge protocols. Automated security gatling guns activated, turning Vault 3 into a kill box.
Scene 3 — NYSA Escapes
NYSA withdrew from the Vault while Team Bravo fought through or bypassed the security obstacles. Tracking data showed her moving toward the main control room.
Scene 4 — Pursuit Begins
Team Bravo pursued NYSA through ORIZON-4 toward Sector G and the main control room. During the pursuit, hostile station systems interfered with Karrion Voss’s power armour.
Karrion Observation — Power Armour Compromised
Karrion reported that ALEPH-controlled systems disrupted his power armour as the team attempted to pursue NYSA through the station.
Scene 4 — TAG Ambush
NYSA activated TAGs against Team Bravo during the pursuit. The resulting engagement caused heavy casualties.
Scene 4 — Karrion Voss Killed
Karrion Voss was killed during the TAG engagement. His future Resurrection status remained unresolved at the conclusion of the mission.
Scene 4 — Sector G Trap
Team Bravo continued into Sector G despite the casualties. NYSA triggered another trap involving approximately twenty ALEPH neo-human combatants, described by Karrion in his final field observation as 'neo-human space ninjas.'
Scene 4 — Station Assets Weaponised
The pursuit confirmed that PALE was using ORIZON-4’s legitimate ALEPH assets and security architecture against Team Bravo rather than relying only on external infiltrators.
Scene 5 — Main Control Room
Team Bravo finally reached NYSA in the main control room.
Scene 5 — PALE Controls NYSA
Team Bravo discovered that PALE had taken control of NYSA and had used her access to extract vital information from the ORIZON-4 mainframe.
Scene 5 — De-Orbit Sequence
Before Team Bravo fully understood PALE’s objective, PALE/NYSA initiated a sequence intended to drive ORIZON-4 out of stable orbit and crash the watchtower into Dawn.
Scene 5 — Final Engagement
Team Bravo fought to stop PALE/NYSA while the station continued to lose orbital stability. The team ultimately succeeded in forcing PALE out of NYSA.
Scene 5 — Anya Stabilises ORIZON-4
With PALE expelled, Anya took control of the station’s orbital systems. She barely succeeded in stabilising ORIZON-4 and began the slow process of restoring the watchtower toward a safe orbit.
Post-Mortem 1 — Miriam Solano Located
Following the crisis, Team Bravo located Miriam Solano and subjected her to interrogation.
Post-Mortem 1 — Miriam’s Belief
Miriam stated that she believed ALEPH was losing control and that Bureau Toth was withholding dangerous information from the Human Sphere. She specifically believed NYSA was orchestrating the attacks on Dawn.
Post-Mortem 1 — BLACK MIRROR
Miriam revealed that she had been contacted through an entity or channel she knew as BLACK MIRROR. This contact was identified as PALE. PALE manipulated her fears and persuaded her to provide a backdoor into Bureau Toth’s network.
Post-Mortem 1 — Human Collaborator
Miriam was confirmed to be human rather than a MIRRORGLASS infiltrator. Her actions were driven by fear, conviction and manipulation rather than biological replacement.
Post-Mortem 1 — BLACK LOTUS Functioned
Miriam nearly completed PALE’s access plan, but BLACK LOTUS detected the dangerous anomaly and alerted Bureau Toth first. The safety programme therefore functioned as intended and was not the source of the attack.
Post-Mortem 2 — PALE Message Recovered
With NYSA’s assistance, Team Bravo traced and recovered the outgoing message sent by PALE/07.

Rabbit recognised Concilium as an Ariadnan site where the eight leaders of Ariadna converge for their annual summit. The summit’s codename is the Council of KNIVES.

Operation Watchglass demonstrated that PALE could compromise digital entities, manipulate genuine humans, weaponise O-12 infrastructure and research systems designed to authenticate identity itself. ORIZON-4 survived, but the next target may be the eight leaders of Ariadna at the Council of KNIVES.
